As said earlier, dengue fever is mainly transmitted to your body by two mosquito species, Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti. They get infected with the virus and spread to your body by biting. The virus stays active in your blood from day 1 to 6 of the first phase. Unlike other types of mosquito, the Aedes aegypti is dark and small with white bands on the legs. Also, it has a white to a silvery pattern on the body which resembles a lyre. So whenever you notice these animals around, make sure to stay away from them. [6]
