AAT Deficiency
Many people are born with a genetic disorder called AAT or alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. AAT is a type of protein that protects your lungs against possible damages from triggers in the air. When you don’t have a sufficient amount, environmental factors would penetrate and inflame the lungs more easily. However, this is a very rare condition that only affects a small amount of the population. There is currently no specific measure to prevent this condition from occurring. [4]
