Common Dyslexia Symptoms

Dyslexia, also known as reading disability, is a learning disorder which affects both adults and children. It is most often diagnosed in children, and the symptoms and severity can vary from person to person. In general, people with dyslexia might have difficulty breaking down and reading words, which results in poor or slow reading. This condition is not associated with intelligence. Instead, it is typically a neurobiological disorder which affects the brain’s region that is responsible for language processing. Below are 10 common dyslexia symptoms that you need to look out for.

1Learning Difficulties

Because people with dyslexia often have difficulties with quick visual-verbal responding and the manipulation of sounds or phonological processing, they might find it hard to learn something new. For instance, they might have slowness in developing the vocabulary pool and are only able to say a few simple words. Also, they might recall numbers, colors, letters, and sounds slowly. Some other similar symptoms include difficulty in remembering contents or recognizing their names as well as troubles reciting or rhyming nursery rhymes. [1]
