6 Causes of Bradycardia
Sinus Node Problems
Bradycardia usually begins in the sinus node. Therefore, certain sinus node issues would cause a slow heart rate, such as:
– A failure or pause to discharge electrical impulses at a regular rate
– A slower than usual rate of discharging electrical impulses
– A discharge of electrical impulses that are blocked before contracting the atria
In some cases, these issues would lead to alternating fast and slow heart rates, which is also known as tachycardia-bradycardia syndrome. [4]
