Hip Avulsion Fracture Treatments

Rest is the main treatment for an avulsion fracture in the pelvis or hip. The doctor would recommend using crutches to reduce the pressure of the bodyweight on your hip. It is also advisable to apply ice packs for 15 minutes during the first few days of the injury. Once the pain has mostly subsided, physical therapy can be effective in strengthening and stretching the hip muscles. Surgery is needed in more severe cases to fix a pulled bone. [3]
