Autism Symptoms & Signs You Need to Know

Stimming

Stimming is a self-stimulatory behavior that is done for many purposes, such as communication, dealing with challenging situations, expressing emotions, focusing, and self-calming. It is quite similar to fidgeting. Even though everyone stims, it is particularly regular and necessary for people with autism. If you have yet to be diagnosed, the stims might be subtler. Several common stimming behaviors include rocking, clapping or flapping hands, smelling perfumes or soaps, humming or singing to a song repeatedly, jumping, spinning, pacing, and more similar things.
