Aneurysm – Types & Causes

High Blood Pressure and Aneurysm

High blood pressure is a major risk factor that may lead to the development of an aneurysm. The force of the blood travelling through the blood vessels is calculated by the amount of pressure it puts on artery walls. When blood pressure rises above the normal range, around 120/80 mm Hg for a healthy adult, it would weaken or enlarge the blood vessels. Keep in mind that higher-than-normal pressure does not necessarily put you at risk. Instead, having a significantly high blood pressure may increase the risk for many health issues related to circulation, blood vessels, and heart. [3]
