Leukodystrophy
Leukodystrophy is a rare inherited disease that causes damages in the myelin sheath, which is the protective layer around nerve cells. Often starting in childhood, this condition would cause many issues with hearing, vision, behavior, movement, and memory. When damages occur to white matter, you would experience some more serious symptoms. The best way to diagnose leukodystrophy is an MRI scan. Keep in mind that this is a fatal condition. The age of onset is a decisive factor as babies might live for 2 to 8 years, while adults can live more than a decade after the condition occurs. The current treatment options are still limited.
