Kidney Failure
Kidney failure may develop both acutely and chronically. When an individual is suffering from myeloma, they are at a high risk of suffering from kidney failure. The cause of kidney failure is as a result of the secretion of excess proteins by the malignant cells. You find that myeloma cells secrete monoclonal proteins that vary in types commonly known as immunoglobulins produced in free light chains that cause excessive of the proteins in the blood that flows to the kidney thus exhausting the functions of the organ. The excess proteins are secreted through the kidney thus causing damages where if the production continues, it results in nephrocalcinosis that causes damage to the kidney resulting in kidney failure.
