10 Signs And Symptoms of Anemia

Brittle Fingernails

Due to a lack of iron in the body, anemia may lead to a condition called koilonychia, which is characterized by spoon-shaped or brittle fingernails. However, this is not a common symptom of anemia. When nails become brittle, they may crack and chip easily. Spoon-shaped nails would happen in further phases of iron deficiency. It causes the edges to raise and the middle of the nail to dip, which forms a rounded look like a spoon. It is estimated that only 5 percent of people with anemia, mostly severe cases, experience this problem. [4]
