Sore Throat
It is not uncommon for people who have GERD to experience a sore throat. While the stomach is protected from the corrosive effect of the acid, the throat is not protected. When this acid comes up to the esophagus through the lower esophageal sphincter, it may cause a sore throat. If you have gastroesophageal reflux disease, you will most likely experience a constant sore throat that may be difficult to treat. Different things can cause a sore throat, so, if you ever notice that you constantly have a sore throat, you should see your doctor as soon as you can.
