10 Common Symptoms of Gerd

Sour Taste

Acid reflux can cause stomach acid to get to the back of your throat and the mouth in some cases; this may cause you to experience a sour taste in your mouth. Also when regurgitation occurs, the backwash of small quantities of food may cause you to experience a sour or bitter taste. This symptom will most likely occur alongside other symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. When you continuously experience a sour or bitter taste in your mouth, it may be as a result of the backwash of stomach acid rising to the throat and the mouth. Alongside this symptom, you may also experience a burning sensation in your mouth as a result of the corrosive effect of stomach acid.
