10 Causes of Anemia You Need to Know

Inflammatory Diseases

Inflammatory diseases cause a type of anemia called anemia of inflammation or anemia of chronic diseases. Some people have anemia because they are battling with one disease or the other. This type of anemia is always severe because the underlying causes are also chronic.

Chronic diseases like cancer, HIV/AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney disease, Crohn’s disease, and other chronic inflammatory diseases, all lead to anemia. These diseases can cause changes in red blood cells, like deformation or suppression of the red blood cells. These changes then lead to the death of the red blood cells sooner than usual and slow down their production. [8]
