Three Levels of Positive Psychology
There are 3 levels of positive psychology. These include:
– Subjective level: optimism, well-being, happiness, and how they affect your daily life
– Individual level: a mixture of virtues, such as courage, love, and forgiveness, and all components in the subjective level
– Group level: effective interactions with the community, including characteristics like social responsibility and altruism, which improve social connections [5]
The PERMA Model in Positive Psychology
To main focus of positive psychology is well-being. To define and explain this concept more clearly, Seligman introduced the PERMA model, which stands for the 5 components of well-being. These include:
– Positive emotions: having gratitude or optimism about the past, pleasure in the present, as well as dream or ambition for the future
– Engagement: experiencing the flow state with favorite hobbies and activities
– Relationship: building and maintaining social relationships with friends and family
– Meaning: searching for a purpose in life
– Accomplishments: achieving successes or life goals [6]
