Ways to Maintain Good Eye Sights

The Outer Coat

The cornea and sclera make up the most outer layer, which is also known as a fibrous tunic. It provides support and maintains eyeballs in shape. The sclera is opaque white continuous with the transparent cornea. The cornea allows the light reflected off an object to enter our eyes.

The Middle Coat

The middle layer is composed of the iris, the ciliary body, and the choroid. The iris is the pigmented part of the eyes responsible for regulating the amount of light getting into the eyes by adjusting the size of the pupil. As an extension of the iris, the ciliary body is the ring-shaped muscle (ciliary muscle) that changes the shape of the lens. The choroid is located between the sclera and retina. It is the blood-rich membrane playing a vital role in supplying oxygen and nutrition within the eyes.

The Inner Coat

The retina lies at the back of the eyeballs. It collects light from the lens and sends impulse signals to the brain for visual recognition.
