Location
Microvilli are present on different cell surfaces. In these separate locations, microvilli perform diverse functions. On the surface of the ovum, it acts for the anchoring of sperm cells for fertilization to complete. In the small intestine, several microvilli are found in the intestinal villi. On cells concerned with the exchange of materials, microvilli often form brush borders around the apical ends of the epithelial cells. They are also essential to the locomotion of white blood cells.
