Menopause – Diagnosis & Treatment

Lab Tests

Many lab tests can help you diagnose menopause. The main purpose of these methods is to measure the levels of several reproductive hormones in your body which fluctuate during your menstrual cycle. These include:

– TSH or thyroid-stimulating hormone: A thyroid issue would result in some signs which mimic menopause, particularly in premature menopause cases. This test can help your doctor rule out other conditions other than menopause.

– Estradiol: It is one of 3 forms of estrogen which are usually tested for menopause

– FSH or follicle-stimulating hormone: Produced by the pituitary gland, the level of this hormone will increase significantly in the blood, making it a good way to know if you have entered menopause or not. [3]
