1What Is Hydrogen Peroxide?

Hydrogen peroxide is a substance in the liquid form. This colorless chemical works as an oxidizing agent, which means it may be a powerful disinfectant. Therefore, many manufacturers add hydrogen peroxide into antiseptics, disinfectants, cleansers, dyes, or bleaches. Due to its antiseptic properties and availability, the liquid is a common stable in many family’s first aid kit and medicine cabinet. However, it would cause irritation of the skin, respiratory airway, throat, or eyes, if used improperly. The key is to choose the right concentrations and strengths, depending on the use. Most household products have a concentration of 3 percent, while teeth whitening products and hair dyes have a concentration of between 6 and 10 percent. [1]
