How to Deal with Loneliness in Our 30s

Join a Club

Meeting other people is the easiest way to prevent loneliness. It is a good idea to join a community where you can find other people with the same backgrounds or interests. Whether it is a sports club, book club, guitar club, or art class, you can have more chances to talk, play, and have fun together. Another benefit is that you may have a feeling of belonging to a community, which may encourage creativity and give you something to look forward to. Even when you do not want to leave home, there are many online communities to join. The key is to look for opportunities to socialize and enjoy with other people.  [5]

Volunteer

Volunteering may bring similar benefits as joining a club. You can meet other people, be part of a community, and have new experiences to prevent loneliness. These activities may also help you find more meaning in life and feel better. In fact, studies have shown that volunteering would make people feel more emotionally fulfilled and socially connected, which are important to avoid being lonely. You may simply volunteer at a homeless shelter, a hospital, or a class. Even better, try to help other people who are feeling lonely, such as older people.  [6]
