Types of Mouthwash
In general, mouthwash can be divided into two main types:
– Cosmetic mouthwash: It may provide a pleasant taste and keep your breath fresh temporarily. However, there is no biological or chemical application, such as killing bacteria
– Therapeutic mouthwash: It contains active ingredients, such as fluoride, peroxide, or chlorhexidine, to help with dental issues, such as tooth decay, plaque, gingivitis, and bad breath. Depending on the formulas, therapeutic mouthwash is available by prescription or over the counter. [2]
