Chipped Teeth and Toddlers: What Parents Need to Know

Overview of Chipped Teeth

Enamel is the outer layer that protects the teeth. However, when excessive wear and tear or a forceful blow occurs, it may lead to chipped teeth. This eventually leads to jagged teeth that may be disfiguring, tender, or sharp. Teeth may chip for certain reasons, such as accidents, falls, biting on hard candy or ice, teeth grinding during sleep, or playing contact sports without protection. The risk can be higher for any weakened teeth.[1]
