When Can You Switch Medicare Advantage Plans?
Initial Enrollment Period
You may change Medicare Advantage plans at any time during the initial enrollment period. It lasts for 7 months in total, including:
– 3 months before you turn 65 years old
– Your birth month
– 3 months after you turn 65 years old
If you are eligible for Medicare with a disability, the initial enrollment period starts 3 months before the 25th month when you receive benefits from Railroad Retirement Board or Social Security Disability Insurance. It includes the 25th month and then continues for the next 3 months. [5]
