Reduced Motivation
The loss of will or reduced motivation can be a negative symptom of schizophrenia. This condition is also known as avolition. It is a type of behavioral or emotional paralysis that could diminish the drive to meet goals or join in social activities. Other people might mistake it for laziness. However, avolition in schizophrenia can lead to a pervasive lack of enthusiasm for both major and minor tasks, such as what to drink, what can happen tomorrow, or how to pay the bills. [7]
