What is Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD)

RSD Symptoms

RSD happens in the extremities. It tends to affect the upper limbs, but your lower limbs can be affected as well. People with this condition would experience symptoms in their knees, hips, legs, shoulders, arms, fingers, and hands. Typical signs include discomfort, stiffness, burning sensation, pain, sensitivity to cold or heat, swelling, skin redness, feeling warm to the touch, weakness, tenderness, skin paleness, skin changes, sweating, hair and nail changes, muscle atrophy, muscle spasms, and muscle weakness.

Most symptoms start in the affected areas but might spread to other parts when the condition progresses. You would feel symptoms on one side, but they can also show up on the opposite side in worse cases. Sometimes, RSD might result in mental issues, such as PTSD, depression, or anxiety. [2]
