When to See a Doctor
Most cases of bruises are not serious. However, you need to visit a healthcare provider in the following cases:
– Extremely painful swelling around or in the bruises
– A lump growing on the bruises
– Frequent bruising that occurs for no obvious reasons, particularly on the trunk, face, or back
– Abnormal and unusual bleeding in the stool, urine, or in the gums or nose
These might be signs of issues with platelets or several proteins that aid in clotting blood. [7]
