Upper Arm Pain – Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Brachial Plexopathy

The brachial plexus is a group of nerves located between the shoulder and neck. They connect the arm with the spinal cord nerves. When an injury occurs to this part and makes your shoulder stretch down, it would lead to brachial plexopathy. The most common causes are vehicle accidents and sports injuries. Radiation, cancer tumors, and inflammation can damage these nerves as well. In addition to pain in the upper arm, you might experience weakness, numbness, and a burning or stinging sensation. Possible treatment options include physical therapy, rest, and surgery. [5]
