Diet Changes for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer and the Outlook
Currently, there are no recommended diets for preventing or treating triple-negative breast cancer. However, it is worth noting that many cases were associated with poor diet, alcohol consumption, and obesity. Therefore, following a healthy and well-balanced diet may help prevent this disease. Ideally, your diet should include whole grains, whole fruits, fiber-rich legumes, varied veggies, and nutrient-dense foods. Avoid consuming highly processed foods, processed and red meat, as well as sugary drinks. Certain studies have shown that polyphenols in grapes, chocolate, tea, and olive oil may help lower the risk of breast cancer. [8]
Compared to other types of breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer tends to have lower 5-year relative survival rates. According to previous studies, the overall survival rate for this form is 77 percent in 5 years after the initial diagnosis. Nevertheless, many factors may determine the overall outlook, including the grade of the cancer and stage. Your doctor will provide a more accurate prognosis based on your overall health, age, body’s responses to treatment, and stage of triple-negative breast cancer. [9]
