Sore Tongue – Causes, Symptoms & Treatments

Trauma

A sore tongue caused by a trauma happens when you bite on your tongue and trigger extreme pain. Just like when you bang the leg or arm, this pain will not go away immediately. Instead, it might feel uncomfortable and sore for a few days or weeks until the damage heals fully. Eating something that is very hot would also burn or blister your tongue and lead to the same effects. Similarly, clenching your teeth or grinding them might result in pain on the outside edges of the tongue. Thus, it is better to avoid these bad habits to reduce risks. [2]
