Rheumatoid Arthritis – Diagnosis & Treatment

Rheumatoid Factor

Rheumatoid factor is a kind of autoantibody that can be found in more than 70 percent of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Those components are generated when the body mistakenly attacks cell products or healthy cells. Your doctor can take a test to measure the level of this autoantibody. If the result is high, which means you have more rheumatoid factors in the blood than usual, it might indicate the presence of rheumatoid arthritis. However, this is not a decisive diagnostic test because some other autoimmune and non-autoimmune diseases can also have similar results. These include lupus, chronic infections, or cancer. [3]
