Psoriatic Arthritis – Causes, Triggers, Risk Factors and Prevention

Age

Psoriatic arthritis usually occurs years after the development of psoriasis. Therefore, it is more common in people between 30 and 50 years old. Younger people may have the disease as well, but it is not common. Studies have divided the condition into two subtypes based on the age of onset:

– Type 1 psoriatic arthritis happens before the age of 40. It accounts for around 70 percent of people with psoriasis.

– Type 2 psoriatic arthritis occurs after the age of 40. The peak ages of onset range from 57 to 60 years old. [8]
