Sputum Culture
A sputum culture is a special test that can identify and detect any fungi or bacteria infecting your breathing passages or lungs. During this process, your doctor will ask you to cough a thick fluid called sputum to a testing container. This sample will be later tested in a lab to find out the exact cause of your pneumonia and which type of pathogen is triggering the condition.
