In more advanced cases when nail fungus progresses, you would feel pain around the infected areas. This sensation is caused by the inflammation in your nails and some surrounding tissues. Thickened nails tend to accompany pain, so it is simpler to know whether you have a nail fungus in opposition to other conditions like an ingrown toenail. You would experience this symptom when wearing shoes or walking. The pain is often directly on the nail or around the part. You can press gently on the nail to check more carefully.
