Durie-Salmon System
Another way to stage multiple myeloma is the Durie-Salmon system, which determines the intensity and condition of the disease. Necessary information includes the condition of the kidneys, bone damages, level of blood calcium, level of hemoglobin, and amount of abnormal proteins in the urine or blood. Though this method is not as common as the International Staging System, this is still a good reference for many experts and doctors in some advanced cases. [2]
