Can Metastatic Breast Cancer Go Into Remission?
Even in the stage 4, metastatic breast cancer can still go into remission. It means that cancer cells cannot be identified in an imaging test or any other procedures. The result of a PCR test (pathological complete remission) may suggest a deficiency of cancer cells in tissues collected after a biopsy or surgery. However, it is quite rare to take a tissue sample during treatment for metastatic breast cancer. It would indicate that even though you have gone through effective treatment, it has not destroyed all cancer cells completely.
