Treatments for metastatic breast cancer are typically similar to those for breast cancer in the earlier stages. These include:
– Targeted drug therapies to kill all cancer cells
– Chemotherapy: medications are injected intravenously or given orally to fight cancer
– Hormone therapy: this treatment can slow or stop the growth of cancer cells by preventing the release of hormones or restricting the effect of hormones on cancer cells
– Immunotherapy: this treatment uses medications to stimulate the immune system to kill all cancer cells
