Kidney Stones – Diagnosis & Treatments

Medications

Some medications would be prescribed to help with kidney stones. For instance, alpha blocker can be a good option to relax the ureter’s muscles, making it simpler to pass the stones when you urinate. However, this option is only suitable for small stones. For those people with masses caused by uric acid, potassium citrate would be needed to make the stones dissolve gradually. Some OTC pain relievers like aspirin or ibuprofen can also be taken to alleviate the pain caused by kidney stones. Some possible side effects include fainting, diarrhea, weakness, lightheadedness, or dizziness. [7]
