Hypocalcemia – Causes, Symptoms & Treatments

Diet

An obvious cause of hypocalcemia is the insufficient intake of vitamin D and calcium in your daily meals. Ideally, a typical adult should consume at least 1,000 to 1,200 mg of calcium every day to meet basic functions. Some calcium-rich foods include milk, margarine, fatty fish, eggs, dark green veggies, cheese, and yogurt. You can also take supplements to ensure sufficient intake. In some cases, malabsorption would make it harder for the body to absorb the mineral properly. Make sure to consult your doctor to deal with the underlying trigger and ensure your body can function as usual. [3]
