The most effective way to prevent shingles is to get vaccinated. Currently, there is only one vaccine available for this condition. It is called Shingrix. Before, November 2020, Zostavax was another vaccine for shingles, but it was discontinued since then. Studies have shown that Shingrix may be up to 90 percent effective in shingles prevention. It is recommended to get vaccinated, especially for people above 50 years old. Shingrix is not suitable for those who:
– Currently experience symptoms of shingles

– Had get vaccinated for the varicella vaccine
– Had never had chicken pox
– Have a history of serious allergies [9]
