Sexual Dysfunction
Although it is common for men to experience erectile dysfunction as they get older, it makes it more possible for it to occur if they have high blood pressure. High blood pressure causes the lining of the blood vessels to be damaged, thereby, causing the arteries to harden and become narrow. This will then hinder sufficient blood getting to the penis. [3]
High blood pressure can also cause erectile dysfunction in women by reducing the quantity of blood that flows to the vagina; this will, in turn, cause vaginal dryness and a decrease in sexual desire. Women with high blood pressure may find it difficult to achieve orgasm.[4]
