Herpes Simplex Virus – HSV-1 & HSV-2

HSV-1 Prevention

Since HSV-1 is often most contagious during an outbreak, people with this condition should limit oral contact or sharing objects with other people. In addition, they should avoid oral sex with their partner as this activity would transmit the virus. For genital herpes, it is better to abstain from all sexual activities during the outbreak. Those people who already contract HSV-1 aren’t at risk of developing this condition again, but they would still acquire HSV-2 in the future. An effective way to prevent is to wear condoms in all sexual activities. Pregnant women should consult a doctor to take proper preventive measures. [5]
