Glaucoma Causes & Risk Factors

Caffeinated Drink

Since glaucoma is associated with pressure inside the eyes, drinking certain fluids at a given time would temporarily increase the buildup of fluid in your eye. This results in increased pressure and higher risk. Therefore, be careful with your fluid intake, especially caffeinated drinks like sodas, teas, or coffee. Studies have shown that caffeine can have an effect on the vessels and blood flow that feed your eyeball. It is recommended to limit your consumption to no more than 1 cup per day.[8]
