Folliculitis (Barber’s Itch) – Symptoms, Causes, Treatment & More

Signs and Symptoms of Folliculitis

In early stages, folliculitis might appear like white or yellow-tipped pimples, small bumps on the skin, or rashes. In people with light complexion, patches caused by folliculitis may show up in pink or red color. For darker skin, it would appear darker than the surrounding area with purple or red tones. Folliculitis would spread to surrounding hair follicles and develop into crusty sores over time. Other typical signs of folliculitis include crusty sores, pus-filled sores, tender or itching bumps, pain, tenderness, itching, and inflamed skin. [6]
