Folliculitis Diagnosis
To diagnose folliculitis, your doctor needs a physical exam and an assessment of your medical history. Specifically, they might need to examine your skin to look for possible signs. You also need to provide them with necessary information concerning your family and medical history. Some questions associated with recent activities may be asked, particularly related to your new clothing or the use of hot tubs. In some cases, they would take a swab of the infected area to identify fungus or bacteria that may cause folliculitis. Your doctor would also do a skin biopsy to rule out other possible causes, but it is quite rare. [7]
