Possible Complications of Folliculitis
In most cases, folliculitis is relatively harmless. However, if left untreated properly, it may lead to certain complications. These include
– Cellulitis: a skin infection
– Recurrent infections of follicles
– Permanent hair loss because of follicle damage
– Dark skin spots or scars
– Boils or furunculosis under the skin
– Infections that affect other parts of the body
