Causes
Fever blisters are triggered by the herpes simplex virus, which has many strains. It would penetrate the body through direct contact with other infected people, such as kissing, touching, and having sex. Many people with the virus might not develop visible symptoms and signs. This condition is most contagious after a few days when oozing blisters are present. Once you have been infected, the virus can lie dormant in your skin’s nerve cells and might emerge in the future in the same area. Recurrence would be caused by stress, fatigue, hormonal changes, fever, a change in the immune system, or exposure to wind and sunlight. [3]
