Eosinophilic Asthma Symptoms

Wheezing

Wheezing is a squeaky or whistling sound that you make when breathing. It is the most typical sign of asthma that makes many people seek care. The symptom is often noticed when you are breathing out, but breathing in may also produce wheezing, especially in more serious cases. Wheezing happens when inflammation caused by asthma narrows the airways and block the airflow. Do not confuse wheezing with stridor, a noise with a high pitch in people with croup. [2]

Coughing

Another common symptom of eosinophilic asthma is coughing. It particularly becomes worse during the night and may affect your sleep. When a cough persists and turns chronic, it might indicate the presence of more serious asthma. If your healthcare provider suspects asthma, they may ask you a few questions to figure out the underlying cause. In people with asthma, a cough at night more than two times a month may suggest that they need to go for other asthma medications. [3]
