Treatment for Tremors
It can be challenging to treat tremors caused by Parkinson’s disease. In some cases, it may respond to some Parkinson’s medications. If your tremors are serious, your healthcare provider would prescribe anticholinergic drugs, such as propranolol, clozapine, trihexyphenidyl, benztropine, or amantadine. When these medications are not effective, deep brain stimulation may be suggested. During this surgical procedure, electrodes will be implanted in the brain to transmit electrical pulses to brain cells that regulate movements. Up to 90 percent of those with tremors get complete or partial relief from this treatment. [6]
