Deviated Septum – Symptoms and Causes

Sleeping On a Specific Side

The sleeping position can vary from person to person. However, a deviated septum would make you prefer sleeping on a specific side. The main purpose is to optimize the breathing pattern through the nose during the night when a nasal passage is obstructed or narrowed. You can also notice snoring, loud breathing, or disrupted sleep. This would make it more difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. In more serious cases, a deviated septum would even lead to sleep apnea, a possibly severe condition in which breathing can stop during sleep. [6]
