Obesity
Being obese or overweight would significantly increase the risk of coronary heart disease. This is because extra bodyweight is usually related to diabetes mellitus or high blood pressure, two major causes of the condition. Obesity is mostly caused by a lack of physical activities and a poor diet. Ideally, you should keep the body mass index or BMI between 18.5 and 24.9. When this measure is higher than 25, you might be overweight. Another indicator of obesity is waist circumference. The recommended figures for men and women are 40 inches and 35 inches, respectively.
