Congestive Heart Failure Stages & Life Expectancy

Types of Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart failure would happen on the left or right side of your heart. When the left ventricle cannot pump blood out of the body, fluids would accumulate in the lungs and cause difficulties breathing. Left-sided heart failure would be categorized into two types, including diastolic and systolic. The right-sided condition happens when your right ventricle has trouble pumping blood to the lungs. This makes fluids build up in lower parts of the body, abdomen, and many important organs. You would have both types simultaneously. In most cases, the condition often begins in the left part and moves to the right part if left untreated. [2]
